It’s officially the start of spring, and Dublin is (slowly) warming up. That means it’s time to put away your big winter coat, pack a book, and explore Dublin’s beautiful parks in bloom.
But the parks aren’t the only thing turning green this month: watch buildings across the city light up emerald for St Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s biggest celebration of the year. Plus, March is Women’s History Month—the perfect time to celebrate the women in your life (or yourself) and learn more about Ireland’s most influential female figures.
Embrace green this month and discover the best events in Dublin for international students 🌱
☘️CULTURAL SPOTLIGHT: St Patrick’s Day
Celebrated every year on March 17th, St Patrick’s Day commemorates the death of Ireland’s patron saint. But who is St Patrick?
St Patrick was kidnapped by Irish raiders in the 4th or 5th century and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped, became a Christian missionary, and later returned to spread Christianity throughout Ireland. Legend says that he used the iconic shamrock, or three-leaf clover, to explain the idea of the Holy Trinity.
What began as a quiet religious holiday has evolved into a lively global celebration of Irish culture and identity, full of green hats, good craic, and plenty of Guinness. Dublin is packed with St Patrick’s Day events this month, from a huge parade to Irish Trad performances.
