Get ready for Dublin’s liveliest (and hottest) month! It might be sweltering in the capital, but there are plenty of ways to ride out the heatwave, whether you sweat it out at a festival or escape to the air-conditioned bliss of an exhibition.

It’s also the perfect time to leave the city behind and catch a DART to the nearest beach. Dublin is surrounded by some stunning coastal towns and villages, from Howth’s breathtaking cliffside views to Malahide’s medieval castle and crystal-clear waters.

Here’s our pick of the best things to do in Dublin this month 🏖️

☀️ CULTURAL SPOTLIGHT: The Grand Stretch

Did you know Ireland recently celebrated its longest day of the year?

June 21st marked the Summer Solstice, when people all over the country gathered to watch the sun rise at around 5 AM. This year, the sun didn’t set in Dublin until 9:56 PM – that’s roughly 17 hours of daylight!

Throughout July, you might hear one phrase more often: “There’s a grand stretch in the evenings”.

The saying refers to the lengthening of daylight in spring and summer, and thanks to Ireland’s northern latitude, the stretch can get very grand indeed. After the darkness of winter, the extra daylight hours can cause a lot of excitement – with some people even recording them by the minute.
