Studying with Twin – A Truly International Experience
At Twin, you’ll learn alongside students from all over the world. Last year, we welcomed learners from 52 different nationalities, giving our centre a wonderfully rich, multicultural atmosphere.
For non‑EU students on our Academic Year programme, there’s also the opportunity to work up to 20 hours per week during term time – and up to 40 hours during holiday periods. It’s a great chance to practise English in real work settings and get immersed in Irish life.

No, there are no specific prerequisites for studying at our Dublin English Centre. We offer courses for learners of various levels, from beginners to advanced. Our programmes are designed to cater to a wide range of students.
This depends on your nationality and the duration of your course. Students from the European Union generally do not require a visa. However, non-EU students typically need to apply for a student visa to study in Ireland. Our admissions team can provide guidance on the visa application process.
The cost of studying at our Dublin English Centre, or our other Centres, varies depending on the type of course, its duration, and the location. For specific pricing details, please contact our admissions team.
Twin has arrangements to ensure the protection of long-term visa students through a Learner Protection (PEL) scheme. This guarantees that, in the unlikely event of school closure, students will be able to complete their course. Our PEL coverage is provided by Arachas.

General Overview
Identification and Monitoring:
A traffic light system for ID badges is used to identify age groups and supervision needs:
Junior lanyards: under 16 years old
Attendance is meticulously tracked, with immediate action on absences, involving parents, guardians, and authorities if necessary.
Behaviour Management:
A clear behaviour policy fosters respect, safety, and accountability. Progressive disciplinary measures include verbal warnings, written warnings, and expulsion for serious violations such as physical altercations, harassment, or drug use.
Safeguarding and Welfare:
Dedicated safeguarding staff ensure immediate attention to concerns. Weekly welfare tutorials check ins for 16-17-year-olds provide an opportunity to discuss and resolve any issues.
Code of Conduct:
Students- Emphasizes respect, safety, and the prohibition of harmful behaviours (e.g., bullying or discrimination). Students are made aware of the consequences for non-compliance.
Staff - This gives details of appropriate behaviour with and in the presence of under-18s. Among other things, staff must avoid physical contact with under-18s and should never be alone with an under -18 year-old behind a closed door. They must not maintain contact with under-18s via email, photo-sharing or social networking sites such as Facebook. Any member of staff who has or attempts to initiate a sexual relationship of any kind with an under-18 will be dismissed instantly and reported to the police and the vetting and barring service.
Recruitment:
Staff- Twin will take care to ensure that we do not recruit staff who are not suitable to deal with under- 18s. We will take up references before we appoint new staff, and all staff will undergo a police check. All new staff will receive training in safeguarding under-18s.
Homestay providers - The adults in all new homestay providers that accommodate under-18s will undergo a police check. The centre will not put under-16s in the same homestay as adult students.
Group leaders - All group leaders who bring students to our centres must provide us with a police certificate of good conduct from their country of residence.
Provisions for Under 16s
Parental Consent and Supervision:
Parental consent forms are mandatory and strictly monitored.
Students under 14 must travel with a responsible adult. Any unaccompanied arrival triggers immediate follow-up.
Please note that normally all students in homestay accommodation will travel to and from their house independently in Eastbourne. In London and Dublin, only students aged 14 + are allowed to make their own way to school.
Attendance and Induction:
Tailored junior inductions familiarize students with school policies and facilities. Daily attendance is tracked, and absences trigger rigorous follow-up procedures.
Break Supervision:
Breaktime Safeguarding – Policy (Applies to all scheduled breaks)
Zoned supervision: corridors, canteen/break hall, outdoor areas, stairwells monitored at all times; supervisors remain visible and mobile.
Overlap risk periods: 10:45–11:00 and 15:15–15:30 require group leaders to be onsite to supervised students during breaktimes.
Supervision ratios: 1:25 during standard breaks; 1:15 during overlaps; 1:10 when outdoor areas are in use.
Identification: colour‑coded lanyards differentiate under‑18s from adults; staff trained to recognise at a glance.
Toilets: staff supervise entrances only (no direct supervision inside).
Incident reporting: concerns escalated immediately to DSL/DLP; written report completed within 1 hour.
Breaks are supervised, especially for under-14s, who must remain in designated areas visible to staff. Lunch facilities are provided for junior students.
Class Outings:
Outings require prior permission and adhere to strict adult-to-student ratios. Risk assessments are mandatory, and under-14s are not allowed unsupervised free time.
Provisions for 16-17-Year-Olds
Induction and Oversight:
Comprehensive inductions are mandatory.
Group leaders and students sign declarations of understanding and responsibility.
Holidays and Absences:
Parental and school consent is required for holidays or overnight stays outside host families. Risk assessments are conducted for all such arrangements.
Social Activities:
Participation in outings and events requires supervision or travel plans approved by staff.
Risk assessments include specific risks for under-18s
Weekly Welfare Tutorials:
Individual tutorials are held with the Student Services Manager, addressing issues proactively.

Serious issues such as missing students are escalated immediately, involving all necessary parties and, if required, the police.
Supervision Ratios and Risk Management:
Strict adult-to-student ratios are enforced during outings and activities.

Curfew times:
Under-18s in homestay will be subject to the following curfew times (apart from organised activities):
