Good news for Wicked fans: as Wicked: For Good sweeps through UK cinemas, the hype is everywhere. With special edition pink and emerald items, themed experiences, and even Greggsâ own Yellow âBakeâ Road, itâs hard not to turn green with envy. To help you make the most of the magic, weâve collected the best Wicked activities in and around London for our ESL students.
Whether youâre team Elphabađor Glindađ©·, here are 6 ways to have a truly Wicked day in the UK capital:
Head to Westfield before the 4th of January for a free, multisensory adventure at For Good: The Experience. Explore behind-the-scenes photography, special sets, and props from the movieâplus, tonnes of amazing photo opportunities. Donât forget to leave a message on the For Good Christmas tree, inspired by the enchanted woods of Oz.
Already seen the movies? Watch Wicked live at the Apollo Victoria. Hailed as the âperfect escape from realityâ, the West End show is on an open runâmeaning it will continue as long as audiences canât get enough. And they canât; Wicked was recently named the 7th longest-running musical in West End history.
Enjoy special Wicked-themed cakes and pastries at the Clermont hotel just a 3-minute walk from the Apollo Victoria. Alongside delicate finger sandwiches and scones with clotted cream and jam (or jam and clotted cream, we donât judge), youâll find pretty green and pink pastries inspired by Glinda and Elphaba. Pick a side with a choice of two special cocktails: The Good, with strawberries and raspberries, or The Wicked, with refreshing cucumber and kiwi.
Did you know parts of Wicked were filmed just 10 minutes from our English Centre in Eastbourne? The majestic Seven Sisters cliffs, a series of white chalk cliffs along the Sussex coastline, provided the dramatic backdrop for The Wizard and I. Thanks to CGI, Elphaba gazes out toward a never-ending desert, but in reality, the cliffs overlook Eastbourneâs rolling turquoise sea and bright blue skies. To channel your inner witch, follow the Seven Sisters trail from Eastbourne to Seaford for a stunning, windswept walk.
Wicked-themed merch is everywhere! From witchy Christmas tree baubles to cosy pyjamas and socks, stores across the UK are joining the craze. Check out Marks & Spencer and Primark for themed clothing, makeup, and home décor, or visit LUSH for their exclusive Wicked range, including a glittery Glinda bubble bar wand and an emerald body scrub.
Youâre off to see the Wizard... of pastries! Nothing screams Britain more than a Greggs bakery, and this month, the Leicester Square cafĂ© has built its very own yellow brick roadâGreggs-style. If you havenât yet tried the famed Greggs sausage roll, this is your chance. Plus, pick up a limited-edition Glinda or Elphaba travel cup and get a free coffee.
Learning English shouldnât feel like a battle between good and evil. Watch movies like Wicked without subtitles, travel with ease, and level up your CV with an immersive English course abroad. Youâll learn how to communicate confidently with native speakers and grow your language skills for good.
